Barratt Redrow puts nature, people and wellbeing at the heart of their developments. Enhancing nature is essential to the design of Barratt Redrow developments and makes them more attractive communities in which to live.
The site has previously been used for arable agriculture with the field itself being of relatively low biodiversity value. The field is bounded by mature trees and hedgerows which form higher value habitats. Apart from a small section of hedgerow that will require removal to create the site access, these will be retained and protected from the development, with development set back from these boundaries.
Alongside the retention and protection of existing trees and the vast majority of hedgerows, the proposals will be enhanced with high-quality landscaping and tree planting, increasing tree cover across the site. In addition, with appropriate planting sustainable drainage features such as a proposed drainage basin will provide new wetland habitat. These measures will ensure that the planning application achieves biodiversity net gains.
Existing high value habitats on the site will be retained and protected from development, alongside extensive new landscape planting to achieve net gains in biodiversity.
Homes for Nature
Barratt Redrow is proud to be a member of the Homes for Nature Programme. This includes a commitment to see a bird-nesting brick or box installed for every new home built, as well as hedgehog highways as standard on every new development.
